There are lots and lots of small pizza joints in our area however one pizza
restaurant located in Chino Hills caught my attention and I am sure glad I found
them! Z Pizza restaurant is different for many reasons. Their entire menu is
based around fresh, healthy and innovative creations while keeping the prices
very reasonable.
The menu offers a variety of salads, pasta dishes and sandwiches but the pizzas
are, without a doubt, that main attraction. All pizzeria’s have a variety of pizza
toppings to choose from but Z Pizza offers a whopping 38 varieties of veggies,
meats and cheeses to choose from. The more unique items include shitake
mushrooms, truffle oil, roasted eggplant, caramelized onions and a first in our are
(I think), soy cheese to name just a few.
Specialty pizzas come in 3 sizes and range in price from $9.95 to $19.95. The
Mexican pizza with salsa, mozzarella cheese, spicy lime marinated chicken, green
onions, onions, avocado, sour cream and cilantro was fantastic! The tangy lime
infused chicken and the other ingredients made for a perfect marriage. The
Italian pizza with a tasty basil pesto sauce, ham, mozzarella cheese, artichoke
hearts, tomatoes and black olives was also a smashing hit. The bold and
assertive tasting pesto sauce helped to make the other toppings jump for joy.
Although the above mentioned pizzas were very good, the Tuscan Mushroom
Pizza was my favorite. Imagine a thin crisp pizza crust topped with roasted garlic
sauce, mozzarella & feta cheese, cremini, shiitake & button mushrooms, sweet
caramelized onions, truffle oil and fresh thyme. Talk about an exciting and
delicious pizza! Oh yes I forgot to mention that pizzas can be made with regular
flour or wheat flour. I would definitely order my pizzas with the wheat crust.
In addition to the sweet basil pesto and roasted garlic sauce, Z Pizza also offers
an organic tomato sauce, a chipotle pesto and a Thai sauce. If you enjoy spicy,
the Thai pizza with peanut sauce, mozzarella cheese, spicy chicken, red onions,
cilantro, carrots, fresh bean sprouts and Serrano chilies is another tasty but
somewhat scorching pizza in Z Pizza arsenal of exciting pizzas to consider.
Other dishes that I enjoyed were the Penne with Chicken Sausage and Chipotle
Pesto and for dessert, the sweet Apple Pie Pizza with mascarpone cheese,
toasted almonds, cinnamon roasted Fuji Apples and caramel.
Z Pizza sets a new standard for pizzas and I applaud their efforts to offer healthy
and creative alternatives rather than just use the “cookie cutter” approach to
offering the same pizzas everyone else makes. The only thing I did not like about
Z Pizza was that it was too far from my home but lucky for me, they are looking to
expand.
