When I first walked into Qdoba Mexican Grill restaurant in Redlands, memories
of having a terrible dining experience at a Chipotle’s popped into my head and
stomach The décor and many of the food items looked the same however, once
I taste the food and the sauces, it became apparent that Qdoba is by far the
winner.

Located on Alabama Ave, just North of the 10 Freeway in the large shopping
center where JC Penny’s and Toy’s R Us are located in, this family restaurant
offers all of the Mexican dishes that we have come to love but unlike most
Mexican restaurants that I have visited lately, Qdoba’s dishes are loaded with
flavor and are delicious.

You start your dining adventure by walking thru an assembly line where you
order is nicely taken and prepared by a friendly server. The meats that are
served on your favorite burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads include grilled
marinated steak, chicken, slow roasted shredded pork and spiced ground sirloin.
For those who are vegetarians or just want some extra crunch and flavors, they
also serve freshly grilled vegetable and a fajitas mix.

Once you choose your meats and the item to put them into or on, the entrée then
moves onto the next section that features some great tasting cilantro lime rice
and your choice of pinto or black beans. Next comes the rest of the goodies
including pico de gallo, roasted chile corn salsa, salsa verde, a zesty salsa roja
and a fiery habanero salsa, sour cream, fresh guacamole, grilled veggies plus a
few more items that I forgot to take notes on because I was in culinary heaven
devouring many of their signature items.

Speaking of signature items, they have two sauces that are sensational! The
Poblano Pesto sauce is made with roasted poblano peppers, green chiles,
cilantro, garlic, almonds and pine nuts. I love this sauce but their Ancho Chile
BBQ Sauce is a dream come true, and oh so addicting. This spectacular sauce
us a unique blend of pureed roasted ancho chilies, with overtones of hickory and
mesquite. The sauce is mildly sweet, smoky and has a wonderful rich roasted
chile flavor. I suggest you order it on everything!!!

As for the entrees, their Ancho Chile BBQ Burrito $5.99 to $6.49 (depending on
what meat you order) is my favorite especially with a grilled vegetables added
into the mix. The addition of grilled vegetables, guacamole and their warm 3-
cheese Queso sauce does cost a little bit more but all of them are well worth
adding to your entree.

Other dishes that I order quite often and love include the Chicken Taco Salad
$5.69, the Fajita Ranchera Burrito (with a rich thick Ranchera sauce) $5.99 and
their grilled Quesadillas $4.89 to $6.69 (make sure you add the grilled
vegetables!)

With the multitude of Mexican restaurants in our area, Qdoba really has done an
outstanding job putting quality and flavor in all of their items  (about 99 percent of
their items are made fresh on the premises)

In closing, whether you visit the Redlands site or the Upland or Moreno Valley
site, you can be sure that your taste buds will thank you again and again. See
you there!
