Omaha’s Jack’s, located in the Masi Plaza in Rancho Cucamonga is a restaurant
that has many facets to it. The large, caverness interior is divided up into two
massive sections. On the left side, the large open dining room serves a large
variety of streaks, barbeque ribs, pasta, fish, chicken, sandwiches, and salads
and houses a private banquet room, while the right side of the interior has a full
service bar, large stainless steel tanks that brew six hand crafted micro beers
and multi layered areas that you can eat, drink and listen to live entertainment.
For an appetizer, I went for a most unique sounding item, the Beer Battered Pot
Stickers $8.99. This Chinese favorite featured 10 Chinese dumplings that were
battered and deep fried until crisp. They were served with a mildly tangy sesame
ginger soy dipping sauce. I found these dumplings to be quite good! The batter
was perfectly seasoned and not to greasy whiles the pork and vegetable filling
was delicious. If you are a fan of pot stickers, I suggest you try these.
Next came the unusual Grilled Saku Tuna Sandwich $9.99, the Prime Rib $18.99
and the Branding Iron Steak &18.99. The tuna sandwich consisted of a thin 4-5
oz. filet of Ahi tuna that was lightly seasoned and grilled. It was then topped with
course ground pepper and gently placed open faced upon a French roll with
lettuce and tomato. A choice of one side came with this sandwich. I thought the
Ahi was perfectly seared (still tender and raw on the inside) but felt that the
intense cracked black peppercorns were a little too overwhelming for this delicate
fish. The prime rib consisted of a nice 10 oz. cut of prime rib that was not overly
fatty like prime rib can be and was very tender and flavorful. The house special
12 oz. branding iron steak (cut from the shoulder clod), was tender, juicy and a
very good steak.
The second flight of dishes included the Blackened Salmon $14.99, the Rustler
Combo $21.99 and the signature Down Under Chicken $13.99. All dinner entrees
come with cup of homemade soup, a salad and a choice of a side dish. The
salmon was a decent 8 oz. filet that was seasoned with Cajun seasonings and
grilled until the exterior was dark in color from the spices that were seared on the
exterior of the salmon. The fish was moist and flakey but the seasoning was not
as spicy as I would have liked it to be. If you like hot and spicy, just ask the chef
to add more cayenne or other hot ground pepper spices to the mix. The rustler
combo was an eye-popping dish featuring half a rack of delicate smoky baby
back ribs (or beef ribs) and a half of BBQ chicken that must have been using the
same steroids as Bobby Bonds “supposedly” used. The half of chicken was
larger than life and was moist and tender and very tasty. The last dish, the down
under chicken was exceptional! Imagine the other half of the 4 ½ pound chicken,
that was first marinated in lime infused sauce, baked and then finished off in the
fryer. The chicken was full of flavor, textures and really enough for two people to
share or one person with one might big appetite!
Overall, I found their food (except for a few minor things) to be very tasty, the
portions more than adequate and the prices are excellent.
