Dolce Café & Bakery is actually 3 shops/restaurants in one large location.
Located in the site that once housed the Gateway computer store, eating at
Dolce is a really neat dining adventure. As you enter, you are greeted by two fully
stocked bakery show cases filled with an amazing assortment of “baked from
scratch” pastries, cookies, muffins and some gorgeous cakes that belong on the
cover of Gourmet magazine. The bakery has 3 full time professional bakers, one
from France, one from Taiwan and one from America. The assortments of
goodies that come out of their ovens are incredible looking and decadent tasting,
and will surely make any party or occasion you bring them too memorable.

Next to the bakery section is a coffee bar featuring all of your favorite hot and
blended coffee drinks as well as fresh fruit smoothies. Since the restaurant is
Wi-Fi friendly, I can’t think of a better place to sit down with a fresh cup of coffee
and a stunning pastry, slice of cake or cookie while doing homework or business
on your laptop.

For those who want a more substantial meal, Dolce has it all. For breakfast, they
offer some terrific breakfast Panini’s like the sausage, egg and cheese Panini
$3.75 and a yummy freshly baked Cinnamon Raisin Walnut French Toast $4.99
served with your choice of potatoes. They even have hot oatmeal and an ample
yogurt bar with a myriad of toppings you can add. A friendly cook can also
create, with your assistance, custom made omelets that are served with potatoes
and fresh homemade breads.

Lunchtime is special especially if you like salads. Choose from 3 basic salads
(romaine, spinach or a spring mix) that are $2.99 or $3.99. Once you choose the
basic salad, you then choose from 12 salad dressings and a whopping 38 salad
toppings.  Each of the toppings has a colored serving spoon that represents the
price you pay per item. The toppings range in price from 50 cents to $1.50 for
items like grilled chicken or steak, honey ham, smoked turkey or tuna salad.
Many of the toppings are free so you can still have a good salad for a very
reasonable price.

Moving down a few feet from the salad station is the Panini station where some
tempting freshly made Panini’s are proudly shown and made to order. The
Monterey Ranch $7.25, with grilled chicken, crisp bacon, roasted red peppers,
Monterey jack cheese and ranch dressing on sourdough bread was really really
really good!. Don’t forget to try some of their many delicious homemade soups
that are offered daily and are perfect on these cold wintry days.

They also offer six different individual brick oven baked pizzas $6.75, with my
favorites being the popular Hawaiian pizza with honey ham, pineapple, tomato
sauce and Mozzarella cheese, the classic Margarita and “the Works” with
pepperoni, red onions, mushrooms, sliced olives, Mozzarella and tomato sauce.

Right next to the Pizza section is the Pasta station where some superb pasta
entrees are offered. I liked the Penne Alla Bolognese $7.50 with a rich meat
sauce and the intensely bold and assertive Chicken Pesto $8.50, with artichoke
hearts, sun dried tomatoes in a creamy pesto sauce with grilled chicken and
apple wood smoked bacon the best..

At dinner time, attentive servers come to your table to take your order. The menu
features many of the most popular items found during lunch but their special
dinner entrees are worth trying. The Roasted Garlic Farfalla $7.50, with chicken
and sautéed mushrooms in an exciting roasted garlic cream sauce, the delicious
Bistecca Alla Portal $9.95, Tri-Tip smothered with a reduced red wine sauce
topped with a tomato mango chutney and the Chicken Almandine $8.95, a large
chicken breast breaded and with almonds, pan fried, and topped with an apple
walnut chutney were all fantastic! Many of the entrees come with fresh sautéed
vegetables and their garlicky mashed potatoes.

Owner Alice Lee and Chef Rob Neri have developed a great concept featuring
fresh and flavorful food and an array of decadent baked goods that will please
anyone who appreciates fresh quality food at very reasonable prices. I highly
recommend Dolce Café & Bakery to you, especially their items from their
marvelous bakery.
